Hevelius is the last of the six satellites Brite, who are still waiting for their start. In space, will join five other satellites Brite.

Polish satellite “Hevelius” is already in orbit. The hotel early in the morning was launched from a Chinese space center. At the height of more than 600 km was his 47-meter rocket called the Long March-4B.

The space is now one Polish scientific satellite – Lem, which was launched a year ago. Lem and Hevelius – next to two Canadian and two Austrian satellites – belong to the international mission Brite. All are small: a cubes with a side of about 20 centimeters. Hevelius slightly different from Lem and the Austrian and Canadian “brothers.” It includes some experimental technology as checking memory in terms of radiation or opening of tiny mechanical systems. Has also been slightly modified telescope. Hevelius, when he will be in space for several years, will conduct precise measurements of 286 brightest stars.

Polish satellite “Hevelius” is already in orbit. The hotel early in the morning was launched from a Chinese space center. At the height of more than 600 km was his 47-meter rocket called the Long March-4B.

Dr. Peter Orléans, deputy director of the Space Research Centre and Head of Technical Project Brite in Poland yesterday explained that success depended from the Chinese. – First, we must receive from the Chinese information that the satellite was separated on the orbit, on what we wanted, which was a trial properly elevate the rocket and the satellite separation. This is a purely Chinese job – explained Dr. Orléans.

If everything works out well, we should know in a few hours, if the satellite is active and that can be to talk to him.

From March 2013 are located in the two Austrian satellites TugSat1 and unibit, in November 2013, he joined the Polish are Lem. In turn, 19 June 2013.-Dnepr rocket from the Russian base was bright two Canadian satellites: Toronto and Montreal.

Originally Hevelius had to take off at the end of December 2013 on the Long March 4B rocket. However, shortly before the planned launch of the Brazilian satellite wynoszony by a rocket of this type rather than in space landed on Antarctica. It was the first rocket failure of this type. Since then start Hevelius was layered on several occasions.

All Brite satellites using small telescopes to observe the brightest stars pulsing. They belong to nanosatelitów, or objects with very small size. They weigh less than 7 kg in fact, and have a cube with a side of approx. 20 cm. Until such a small device used as an amateur and educational facilities. Meanwhile, satellite Brite as the first such small devices have their scientific task.

Placed at an altitude of 800 km, for a few years will be conducting precise measurements of 286 brightest stars. Thanks to the work of six satellites Brite, scientists receive information about the internal structure of the stars and the details of the physical processes taking place inside them, for example. Fusion reactions, mixing of matter, energy transport from the center to the surface by convection and radiation.

Hevelius differs from the other satellites in the constellation BRITE several important details : designed in SRC telescope and cargo experimental technology, made up of devices that engineers CBK designed for future space missions. These include small boom antenna and a mechanism for securing and releasing the satellite subsystems.

Hevelius also installed przeciwpromienną shield protecting photosensitive array telescope from harmful cosmic radiation. The cover is designed in collaboration with scientists from the Technical University of Gliwice, National Research Center for Nuclear Studies in Swierk and the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Krakow. Radio amateurs around the world will be able to follow Hevelius in orbit, with the identifier signal imparted by satellite for amateur radio frequencies and imparted by a dedicated radio transmitter.
