Icelandic volcano explode? Airlines fear a repeat of … – Polish Radio

has been reported about 800 earthquakes announcing eruption. Icelandic authorities have started evacuating residents coming around the volcano. Experts emphasize that they are not able to determine the scale of explosion and accompanying phenomena.
Some airlines, m.in .: Air France, Lufthansa, Easyjet, Delta Air Linses and Eurocontrol, preparing for the worst-case scenario. The situation is constantly monitored and carriers ensure that they are better prepared than in 2010.
Four years ago, the ash cloud from the Eyjafjallajokull volcanic eruption paralyzed air traffic between the United States and Europe, as well as in Western Europe. Canceled more than 100,000 flights and airlines lost about $ 1.7 billion.
Some components of volcanic ash are dangerous for the engines. After 2010 years airlines have announced, inter alia, closer cooperation with manufacturers of detection devices dust.
Bardabunga (Bárðarbunga) is an active volcano located under the ice cap Vatnajökull glacier. It rises to a height of 2010 m above sea level, making it the second tallest mountain in Iceland (the highest peak is Hvannadalshnjúkur). The last eruption was recorded in 1910.
